Keilflug

“Wedge Flight” (1984/85, plaster, polyester, wood, polyethylene, electrokinetic, each 40×35 cm) depicts a formation of winged equine figures that seem to exist somewhere between natural myth and technical construction. Their bodies are simultaneously organic and mechanical, their wings beating in time with hidden motors. The grouping creates the impression of a flock of birds or a cavalry squadron, both frozen and ready to take flight. “Wedge Flight” thus combines archaic imagery with the vision of artificial movement—an allegory for the intermingling of nature and technology, dream and machine.
