The Designs for the Travel Machine
The Designs for the Travel Machine were created in the context of texts and reflections with the philosopher Hans-Dieter Bahr. The focus was on the “stranger” and the “guest.”
My reflections went back to the simplest nomadic form of travel using a tent. Here, the tent and camping were to be transformed into diverse, metaphorical, playful forms of expression.
These designs were never realized. It was not until 1993 that the exhibition “The Stranger-The Guest” took place in Linz, in which the content was reconsidered and culminated in the installation of the “Secretaries.”
